meant nothing to

Tom Disch apparently killed himself on July 4th. Sorry to see him go. At least this writer suicide didn#39;t hit me so hard as Hunter S. Thompson#39;s. No wire stories yet, so maybe there won#39;t be. Which is really a shame: I can remember Dick, but instead finding myself posting the sad news of Thomas M. Disch#39;s passing. I first read Disch (though his name meant nothing to me then) in the mid-1980s, when I read his story quot; The Death of Socratesquot; in Michael Bishop#39;s image courtesy of www.strangehorizons.com Tom Disch, one of my favorite SF writers and critics , died on July 2nd. He wrote the fantastic SF book, quot; The Genocidesquot;, and one of my favorite short stories, quot;Descendingquot;. Tom lived in poverty
